How long has UYB been around?

United Yearbook Printing Services is a brand-new division of its parent company, TSE Worldwide Press who has been manufacturing high-quality hard cover books for over 25 years.

What does UYB specialize in?

UYB specializes in printing 4-color, hard cover yearbooks with special cover case materials such as imitated leather, fabric, linen and LITHO cover case with embossing, debossing, graving, tip-ons, foil-stamping and personalization.

What do you offer besides yearbook printing?

UYB also offers web-application and mailing services to the parents.

How do you back up your quality?

UYB is a US corporation and we conduct our business under the “Codes of Conducts” liked other US companies and corporations. Quality check is conducted before the printed yearbooks are shipped. If the schools find any defective copies upon receipt, UYB will ship any extra copies from the reserve to the schools by air. If the extra copies are not immediately available, UYB will issue the credit or refund to the schools that are up to their satisfaction or reprint the copies to replace the defective ones at a later date at no charge.

What kind of technical support do we get?

UYB provides technical support by phone and email as well as and on-site trainings to the students. Students will have access to the yearbook specialists 7 days a week through email or by phone.

How often do we get a yearbook representative to come out and help with the students?

The support center of UYB is located in Southern California and we currently provide on-site support to four counties: Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange and Inland Empire. Our yearbook publishing representatives normally visit the schools once or twice a week in the first 2 months of the school year. After that, it will be on an on-call basis depending on the needs of the yearbook advisors and the students. We normally require one day in advance scheduling an appointment. We also offer emergency calls for the same day services if the situation jeopardizes a major deadline or the delivery schedule.

Why should the schools choose or switch to UYB?

During this tight economy, many schools are under enormous pressure to save and cut budget on yearbook publishing. UYB has the capacity and back-up from its Parent Company to produce high-quality yearbooks at huge saving. Our costs is at least 25% less than the key players such as Jostens, Walsworth, Herff Jones, Taylor and Life Touch.

By leveraging the purchasing power from our Parent Company, UYB is able to purchase the materials required to produce the yearbooks at a huge saving in which is passed onto the schools to purchase additional supplies for the students. With the specialized and streamlined work flow designed for the pre-press, printing and binding departments, UYB is able to operate the yearbook division at optimal output while with minimum wastage.

Furthermore, UYB focuses on three key offerings which include yearbook printing, web application and mailing to the parents. Without the extra over-head from operating the high-cost workshops, UYB helps the schools to cut the cost down by focusing on the significant offerings.

How much will I be saving?

UYB is able to save each school an average of 25-35% on all the full color yearbooks with a minimum print-run of 300 copies.

DELIVERY

What is the total production time after the submission of the files for the last deadline?

Based on 500-1,000 copies, the schedule is as follows:

- Printing and binding: Approx. 3 weeks

- Delivery (normal): 3 weeks or

- Delivery (expedited): 2 weeks

How can you guarantee the delivery schedule?

Our delivery schedule is determined when the contract is signed and based on submission of the trouble-free files. Unless the school misses the final deadline or the files submitted have errors, UYB will do everything we could to meet the delivery schedule as promised the schools. Some of the back-up plans we have include setting up additional production lines and using expedited delivery services. However, there may be additional charges incurred for expedited services if the schools fail to submit the materials on time as agreed upon endorsement of the printing contract.

How do you ensure the books will not get stuck in customs?

We have three preventive procedures. First we use a FBI certified air freight called DHL. Our company uses DHL which pre-screens the packages at the origin offering reliability and dependability to customer satisfaction. We also use NYL which is a steamline by boat that ensures the books arrive 1-2 days early. The third procedure we use is when we schedule the delivery we leave 1 week buffer if any case there may be a delay.

How do you group/ multi selecting images, shapes, clipart, etc. in order to copy them in the same format to another page

• YB Publish will launch a multi-selector in editor in March, 2010.

How do students check out of pages/ log off?

• File-General settings-check off “check in everything on exit”

• Make sure the pencil edit button is gray

How do you tag people when you upload photos?

• You input their name under the people section in the select photos window displayed below by arrow 1.

How do you place the photo in a specific section?

• You pick the section in the section tab displayed below by arrow 2

How do you rename sections?

• Under the planner tab, BUT you must be logged into the yearbook advisors account and all users/students must be checked off their page.

• In the planner under page assignments hit the text icon (a/e), displayed below by arrow 1, to enter the new name of the section

How do you add, delete, move sections up and down

• Use the arrows, use the arrows to move selected section up or down

• Use the red X icon to delete a section

• Use the “new” icon to add a new section displayed below by arrow 2.

How do you change the background color?

• Find the background- color Under the layers tab click on the copy layer button displayed by arrow 1

• Next rename the copy by clicking on the rename icon

• Under the element tab, select rectangle, and draw a rectangle(of any size) on the left or right page spread

• Next, hit the fit to page icon displayed by arrow 2

• Select the page on editor in order to change the color displayed by arrow 3

How can you assign custom color schemes?

• Under the color, demonstrated in question 7, once you select a color click on “add custom color” displayed above

Uploading photos and placing them in a section E.g. Senior section

• Click on the upload icon displayed below by arrow 1.

• The select photo window will appear, once you had added the photo, you can change the section you want he photo to be in under the section tab, displayed below by arrow 2

• Hit ok.

Moving photos to different sections

• First click on the move icon, located to the right of the upload icon, and displayed below by arrow 1.

• The move photo window will appear where you can now move the photo in the new section tab, displayed below by arrow 2.

• Hit ok.
